York's civic team is reminding budding linguists that there are only two weeks left to apply for a free language course in Germany.
The course is being funded by York's twin city, Munster, as part of the celebrations for 50th anniversary of the twinning of the two cities.
The German city's civic party is offering two young people from York the opportunity to join a German language course free of charge.
The course is organised by the local adult education centre and will run from 5 to 25 August. The two York students will attend German classes on a morning before taking part in a language orientated leisure programme on an afternoon. The students will learn in small groups and will attend about 100 language sessions during their three week stay.
They will stay in twin bedded rooms in a youth hostel next to the beautiful Lake Aasse in Munster.
The course is open to anyone aged between 18 and 27 years of age and anyone who would like to go on the course should apply in writing, stating in no more than 250 words why they would like to go to Munster to learn/improve their German. The applications should be sent to the Lord Mayor of York, Civic Office, Guildhall, York, YO1 9QN , or emailed to civicenquiries@york.go.uk before Friday 15 June.
Applicants should include their name, address and date of birth and the successful students will be informed by Friday 22 June. The students must be free to travel to Munster for the course and will need to make their own travel arrangements.
