Young people in the Clifton area of York are launching a brand new magazine aimed at local youngsters this week (7 June).
The project has been funded through City of York Council's Yorkash fund, which provides financial support for projects organised by, and for, young people in the city.
The group of 13 young people aged between 12 and 16, has produced a high quality, glossy magazine- Yorkidz - containing a wide range of original articles including fashion, gaming, short stories and poetry. They were supported by the council's Youth Service and Libraries team, who commissioned Aesthetica Arts to help the young people with the project.
Tim Waudby, from the council's play team, said: "YorKash is a hugely popular initiative and it's fantastic to see that the group has used their money to create such an innovative and professional magazine."
Cherie Federico, managing director, Aesthetica Magazine/Aesthetica Arts, said: "YorKidz magazine is a remarkable achievement, with a diverse range of topics covered, the young people that created this magazine have successfully engaged with the media and arts while learning new skills. The experience provided a new insight for creative pathways for the future."
The magazine will be formally launched at a preview evening on Thursday, 7 June, at Clifton Library. 300 copies of the magazine will be distributed to local young people through the local library.
