A1036 Malton Road carriageway resurfacing

Posted on Monday 30 July 2007

City of York Council will start resurfacing the carriageway along the A1036 Malton Road between Heworth Green and Elmfield Avenue next Monday 6 August.

The work will take around two weeks to complete, providing weather conditions are favourable. It will be carried out between the hours of 9.15am and 4pm, and from 7pm to 11pm, from Monday to Friday.

To ensure that the work can be carried out safely, temporary traffic signals will be in place. It will be necessary to put in place road closures at Malton Road's junctions with Muncastergate and Strayland Grove for up to three evenings between the hours of 7pm and 11pm. Diversions will be in place at these times.

Although the programme of work has been planned in a way that will keep disruption to a minimum, road users should expect some delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

The carriageway resurfacing work involves some deep carriageway patching, and the creation of a new road surface, roadmarkings and anti-skid surfacing. It forms part of the council's annual carriageway resurfacing programme.

It will be carried out by Tarmac Ltd National Contracting on behalf of the council.
