A Haxby day nursery is being recognised for achieving Step 2 of City of York Council's Steps To Quality award scheme.

Pollyanna Day Nursery, which is located on North Lane, is among the first childcare providers in the city to achieve Step 2. Steps To Quality is the council's quality improvement framework for early years education and childcare providers, such as day nurseries, childminders, foundation stage in schools, playgroups and out-of-school clubs. It aims to boost quality in childcare and early years education.

Jo Welburn, quality assurance co-ordinator for the council's early years team, said: "It's great to see another York nursery working towards Steps To Quality. We'd like to congratulate everyone at Pollyanna for their efforts. Steps To Quality awards send out a powerful and reassuring message to parents and carers about the quality of the care their children are receiving."
