Festival of Rivers draws to a close

Posted on Tuesday 31 July 2007

City of York Council's Festival of Rivers will draw to a close on Sunday (5 August) with a 'Memory Boat of Light' sailing down the Ouse.

The evening will start at 7.30pm with a memorial concert with the Ark Church Band in Tower Gardens. The Memory Boat carrying memorial lights will set sail from Acaster Malbis, travelling down the River Ouse, passing Tower Gardens at 9.15pm, before turning round at Scarborough Bridge and retracing its route.

Anyone who would like to dedicate a light to someone can do so by sending the dedication name and a donation to Liz Topi, City of York Council, Mill House, North Street, York, YO1 6JD. Donation cheques should be made payable to City of York Council and marked with the words 'memory boat' on the reverse. Alternatively, debit card payments can be made by calling 01904 554660.

The boat is being provided by Waterline Cruises and all profits will go to the York fundraising appeal for MacMillan Cancer Support. For more details, visit www.yorkfestivals.com and follow the link to Festival of the Rivers.
