Creative fun for the school holidays

Posted on Tuesday 31 July 2007

Youngsters can have the chance to improve their acting and creative talents during the holidays when a series of workshops kick off at Fulford Youth Centre.

Places are still available for 11-16 year olds in a series of daily drama, art and music workshops at Fulford School. The workshops, which run for six weeks, cover a host of creative activities.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to create and perform their own plays or even learn how to mix like a DJ. Shadow puppetry is also on the agenda, alongside sessions on creating your own CD.

Claire Bootland, City of York Council's youth worker, said: "We've tried to organise something for everyone covering different themes. We're even marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Slave Trade Act by creating a piece of drama around the subject."

With spaces still available, anyone interested in joining up should get in touch with Claire Bootland by telephoning 07767318145 or calling into Fulford Youth Centre, Fulford School, Fulford, York.
