City of York Council's CCTV (closed circuit television) operators helped police arrest people wanted in connection with the theft of money and cheques from York store earlier this week.

On the same day, CCTV cameras were used to gather evidence following the theft of a bicycle from the city centre, which also led to suspects being arrested.

Richard Bogg, from the council's Network Management team, said: "These are great results for the CCTV team and we were delighted to be able to help the police."
