The work involves removing the existing surface, some deep carriageway patching, and laying a new road surface. The works are part of City of York Council's annual carriageway resurfacing programme.

The first two phases of work (5-16 February) will be carried out through the day between 9.15 am-3.30 pm. Phase three (19-21 February) will be carried out between 7.00pm "" 11.00pm. All work will be done Monday-Friday.

To undertake the work safely it will be necessary to close the road during working hours and a signed diversion will be in place. The road will be reopened at the end of each working day.
