Organised by City of York Council's Arts and Culture team, the classes will be led by the acclaimed South Asian dancer, Zoobin Surty. They will take place at the dance studios at St John's College, Lord Mayor's Walk. The adult class will be held on Fridays from 6.30pm to 7.45pm. Children's classes take place on Saturdays with a session for ages 8 to 11 years old at 10.00am to 11.00am and for ages 11 to 16 years old at 11.00am until 12 noon.
Edward Lynch, the council's dance consultant, said: "Bollywood dance from the Indian cinema is an excellent way to improve your fitness while learning new dance skills.The classes will bring all the glitz, glamour and magic of Indian cinema to chase the winter blues away. Beginners are welcome."
The course lasts for 11 weeks, at a cost of £33 for children and £35 for adults. Concessions are available for those receiving benefits.
