Supported by First (York) and Smilesallround Estate Agents, the weekend offers the opportunity to visit a host of familiar favourites together with some new attractions for 2007. New additions to this year's programme include the opportunity to visit the city's cold war bunker, the chance to tour York's historic archives, and an offer to take part in a 'live' archaeological dig in St Saviourgate.
To take advantage of the weekend residents must have an up-to-date Yorkcard (not the old style blue, red and white one). The card entitles residents to free or discounted entry to a selection of leisure facilities in York, including museums and swimming pools, all year round.
To get a Yorkcard, residents need to take two items of identification, one of which must show a current (York) address, to any City of York Council library*.
Full details about the events for Residents' 1st Weekend 2007are available from the Information Point in Parliament Street on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 26-28 January, in council receptions, libraries and leisure centres and at www.whatsonyork.com
