12 January 2007: Bringing a taste of the countryside to the city

City of York Council's markets team will be bringing a taste of the countryside to the city this year with the return of the ever-popular Farmers' Markets.

Farmers Markets in York City Centre (Parliament Street) are held on the last Friday of every month with one or two additional days throughout the year. The markets will bring a wide range of homemade, home-baked, home-reared and home grown commodities to the centre of York. Produce on offer will include ostrich, venison, organic lamb, preserves, fresh fish and crab, cakes, cheese and chutneys, plants and bird boxes, sausages and bacon, pottery and ceramics and honey. The markets will be open from 9am until 4pm.
