City of York Council has today announced that Shepherd Construction has been appointed to build its new offices on the Hungate site.
The offices are part of the wider Hungate development and will include a customer one-stop centre.
The building will embrace the constructing excellence and sustainability
agendas.
A design team has been appointed that includes:
· Turner and Townsend - Project Managers
· WT Partnership – Quantity Surveyors
· RMJM Ltd – Architects
· Gifford – Mechanical and Electrical Designers
The construction of the new offices will start in 2008 and it is planned that they will be completed by 2010.
Neil Hindhaugh, the assistant director of property services, said: "The appointment of a local company is excellent news for local jobs, the city and its economy."
Vaughan Burnand, chief executive of Shepherd Construction said: “Shepherd is delighted to win this major development for City of York Council to provide its new administrative accommodation.
