Four of City of York Council's kerbside recycling vehicles have received an eye-catching makeover to help promote the recycling message.
Each of the vehicles has been wrapped in its own individual eye-catching design, funded by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). The branding is part of a campaign aimed at encouraging people to recycle a wider range of materials. It features well known everyday packaging from recognisable brands that we all have at home. However, the brand names have been substituted for the recycling message, 'Let’s recycle more'. There are four different elements of the ‘Let’s recycle more’ campaign - one for glass, one for plastic bottles, one for cans and tins and one for paper.
The ‘Let’s recycle more’ campaign was created by the Greater London Authority and funded by the London Recycling Fund. The campaign was extremely successful in London and is now available for wider use across England. The famous brands used in the campaign have kindly given their permission for them to be used in this way.
The 'wrapped' vehicles will be out and about collecting recycling materials from households from December 17th.
Elizabeth Wray of the council's waste strategy team said: "The new-look vehicles look great and really reinforce the recycling message. Residents will soon start seeing them on the streets of York."
