City of York Council will award funding from its Yorkash grant scheme for young people's groups and activities at a formal presentation evening this Friday 21 December.

Cheques will be presented to young people representing groups that have submitted successful bids for funding.  Yorkash aims to support projects that will benefit the young people of York and is run entirely by local young people, who decide the rules for applying and make the decisions about which projects to fund. The money comes from the council's Youth Opportunity and Youth Capital Funds. Yorkash is supported by the council's  youth service and the early years and extended schools service.

This year a sum of £145,000 in Yorkash funding has been allocated to projects for young people.
