City of York Council's civic party will take on York's Minster Bowling Club in the Lord Mayor's annual bowls match next Saturday 18 August.

The match will held at the bowling green off Marygate, behind the Art Gallery and Yorkshire Museum, at 2pm. It will see the teams battle it out for the Lord Mayor's Bowls Match Trophy.

The event is one of the more informal and fun traditions of the civic year, and the players are entertained after the match with afternoon tea and a presentation at the Mansion House.
