City of York Council is making good progress with the construction of the A1237 Moor Lane roundabout, despite the recent wet weather.
The alignment of the sections of the roundabout and link roads to the east of the A1237 are already evident.
To allow the next phase of the project to get underway, both lanes of the A1237 will need to be temporarily narrowed from Thursday 9 August between the Moor Lane and Askham Lane junctions.
This is allow the contractor (Morrison Construction) to safely carry out work in the verge and along the existing kerbline. Overtaking will not be permitted on this section of the A1237.
With limited space available and for safety reasons, there will be no right turn into and out of Askham Bryan Lane at the A1237 junction. Motorists will still be able to turn left into and out of Askham Bryan Lane. Motorists heading to or from Askham Bryan should use the Copmanthorpe roundabout and Askham Fields Lane.
The restrictions will remain in place until the new roundabout opens. The traffic management layout will be implemented overnight on Wednesday 8 August, so that the new layout will be in place for the morning rush hour on Thursday.
