City of York Council will resurface the carriageway along the A166 Stamford Bridge Road, from the junction at Straight Lane to the junction at Church Balk. The work has been programmed alongside other works in the area to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the public.
The work will start on Monday 23 April and is programmed to last for six weeks.
The initial two weeks' work will take place from Monday to Friday between 9.15pm–4.00am. Work during the final four weeks will be carried out between 8.00am–6.00pm. To carry out the work safely temporary traffic signals will be in place along with convoy control of traffic through the site.
The carriageway resurfacing work involves provision of channels, reshaping of the carriageway, some deep carriageway patching and laying a new road surface. It is part of the City of York Council’s annual carriageway resurfacing programme.
For safety reasons, a 24hour temporary 30mph speed limit will be imposed on the A166 Stamford Bridge Road on the approaches to, and through, the works area. Traffic traveling through the works area when construction is ongoing will be further restricted to 10mph. The traffic management contractor will be on site at all times to provide assistance and advise to motorists during work periods.
The contractor carrying out the work will be Tarmac Ltd.
Delays are anticipated and drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
