3 July, 2006: Travel information - wherever, whenever

Posted on Monday 3 July 2006
Did you know that you can pick up a bus timetable from your local City of York Council library, along with your books and DVDs?

City of York Council is reminding residents of the different ways they can access up-to-the-minute travel information, wherever they are in the city and whatever time of the day or night.

New developments include the City Space information kiosks, which provide on-street transport information at the touch of a button. The kiosks are located outside York Railway Station, on Rougier Street and at the University of York. A public transport route planner is also available on the council's website at www.york.gov.uk/roads/bus

General information and route planning advice is available from the regional travel centre seven days a week from 8am to 8pm on 01904 551400.

Concessionary bus passes and YoZone cards are now being issued while customers wait from the reception at 9 St Leonard's Place.

Julie Hurley, the council's head of Transport Planning, said: "There are lots of different ways that residents and visitors can access travel information and thanks to advances in technology, they can now get up-to-the-minute information 24 hours a day. We hope that the new systems will make it even easier and more convenient for people to use public transport in York."
