Go Art and About at Hull Road Park This Summer

Posted on Wednesday 16 July 2003
An exciting mix of creative and outdoor activities will take visitors art and about at Hull Road Park this summer.

A stone picture, art and music workshops and community picnic are just some of the events planned during July and August. Organised by York East Arts, Hull Road Park Arts and funded through City of York Council and the Safer York Partnership the project is designed to promote use of the park.

Emily Harvey, York East Arts coordinator said: "We want to encourage people living in the area to use the park and to benefit from a range of social and creative activities from contributing to a piece of public artwork to weaving and making music."

From July 21-25, anyone over 10 years of age is invited to help make a large stone picture that will go on display outside Tang Hall Library. No carving experience is necessary and participants will be instructed in the art of the chisel by a trained carver. People can book for a whole week or for a one-hour session. To reserve a place telephone 01904 416429.

On Saturday August 14 bring your own food to the Great Yorkshire Picnic at Hull Road Park. From 1pm-3pm visitors can enjoy free activities which include willow weaving, painting, natural sculpture, flag making, live music and a bouncy castle. ENDS
