The projects will form an annual programme of events in Hull Road Park, which aim to engage and involve the local community by offering a wide range of sociable, creative activities.
The scheme, which will start in April 2003, is being co-ordinated by York East Arts and Hull Road Arts and is funded through the Safer York Partnership.
Local artists are being asked to send in outline proposals for one-off or regular events in the park, including games, music, dance, picnics or craft activities. There is also scope for temporary or permanent installations or creative activities based in other venues, but relating to the park.
Emily Harvey, York East arts co-ordinator, said: "Hull Road Park has great potential. We want to encourage people living in the area to use the park and benefit from an exciting mixture of artistic opportunities from writing and sculpture, photography, textiles and drama."
Councillor Alan Jones, the council's executive member for leisure and heritage, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for all local artists to be involved in this wonderful scheme. We want them to let their imaginations go wild and produce really special."
The deadline for proposals is Friday, January 24, 2003. For more information and a proposal form, please contact Emily Harvey at the Tang Hall Community Centre, Fifth Avenue, York YO31 0UG or telephone 01904 430402.
