The work will begin on Sunday 12 January and will continue until Sunday 26 January. The work involves digging out the existing tarmac footway and replacing it with York stone flags and enhancing the bus stop facilities, including a new shelter.
During the works, the bus stops on that section will be suspended. The Rawcliffe park and ride bus will stop at a temporary stop outside Leeman Road Sorting Office. For Service 1 the railway station is the nearest alternative stop to use. For Service 6 the Rougier Street stop should be used.
Ray Chaplin, the head of York Consultancy, said : "The work will significantly improve the appearance of this high profile approach to the city.
"There will be a degree of disruption whilst the work is being undertaken. We ask the people of York for their patience whilst this work is being undertaken and a temporary footway will be provided along the works to ease pedestrian movement into the city centre from the Railway Station." END
