Posted on Monday 17 February 2003
The work of a confidential information and counselling service for young people, City of York Council's Youth Enquiry Service, has been recognised with a national award.

The young people's service has been awarded the Quality Charter Mark for General Help by the Community Legal Service (CLS), a government led initiative to improve access for the public to quality information, advice and legal services.

The Youth Enquiry Service offers information, support and counselling to young people aged 25 years and under on a range of issues, including drugs, sexual health, housing and local services.

Dawn Moores, YES Co-ordinator, City of York Council, said: "As a small, part time organisation, we are very proud to be awarded the full quality mark for our services.

"We are aware of a lot of research that shows young people find it difficult to access advice and legal services and are pleased that we can help them to overcome this problem."

The Youth Enquiry Service is open at 1 Bootham, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 12noon -5.00pm and Tuesdays 3.00pm -7.00pm. For further information, please contact 01904 623850 or www.yorkyes.co.uk.
