It is expected that the scheme will take two weeks to complete with the majority of the scheme being installed using temporary traffic signals. However, a road closure will be needed from 9am on Saturday until 6pm on Sunday (February 16) to enable a raised junction to be constructed outside the school on Askham Lane.
During the closure local diversions will be signed. Ray Chaplin, head of the council's engineering consultancy, said, "The scheme will include renewing two sets of speed cushions on Askham Lane along with the construction of a raised junction outside the school entrance.
"The work forms part of council's Safe Routes to Schools initiative which has proven a great success since it started four years ago".
