04.02.03: B1224 YORK ROAD, ACOMB - Carriageway resurfacing

Posted on Tuesday 4 February 2003
City of York Council will be resurfacing the carriageway on York Road, Acomb, between Hobgate and School Street. The work will start during the week commencing February, 10, 2003, depending on the weather, and will last for two weeks.

The contractor, Tarmac National Contracting Ltd, will plane off the existing surface, provide structural patching where required and resurface the whole road with a new tarmac surface.

Ray Chaplin, head of engineering consultancy, said: "The carriageway planing and surfacing works will be carried out between the hours of 6.00pm and 12 midnight, Monday to Saturday, and between 8.00am and 11.00pm on Sundays, to reduce the risk of potential pedestrian and traffic problems.

"Raising of ironwork will occasionally be carried out during the day between 9.30am and 4.00pm. Access to properties will be maintained at all times and those directly affected by the works will receive information explaining what is happening. Advance notification signs will be erected at the roadside for the benefit of road users."
