A new assistant director of housing has been appointed. Steve Waddington starts his new role at City of York Council today with responsibility for all aspects of the housing management service, including rent collection, estate management and repairs and ensuring that an excellent service is provided to all tenants and leaseholders

Steve brings 14 years of housing experience to York. He has moved from Barnsley where he had responsibility for the operational management for one of two 'Arms Length Management Organisations' (ALMOs) covering approximately 12,000 properties. He has spent the last four years working in senior management posts.

The assistant director for housing post has been vacant since John Hocking left last November. Temporary management arrangements have been in place since then. Steve has experience of all aspects of housing management including managing responsive and programmed repairs. He also holds a Professional Diploma in Housing Administration and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Steve Waddington, assistant director for Housing Management, City of York Council, said: "I am looking forward to working with everyone in York to build upon the existing good service that we currently deliver and ensure that the service is continually improving and that it is the best that it possibly can be".
