18.08.03: Alternative Transport - First Bus Strike

Posted on Sunday 17 August 2003
In preparation for the proposed strike by First bus drivers on Thursday, 21 August, City of York Council's transport team have prepared a list of alternative forms of transport for residents and visitors to the city.

Further strike action this month is also planned for Saturday, 23 August and Wednesday, 27 August.

First have agreed to maintain the Park & Ride services from Rawcliffe Bar (Green Line); Askham Bar (White Line) and Grimston Bar (Yellow Line). The Park & Ride service from the McArthurglen Designer Outlet (Red Line) will not run during the strike.

The Park & Ride buses usually run every 10 minutes, with the first ones leaving at 7.00am and the last bus returning from the city centre at 7.45pm.

Detailed timetable information about alternative bus transport will be available on the council's website www.york.gov.uk and in council receptions from tomorrow. For more information in the meantime, please contact:
