The cash was raised by members of York Art Society, Art Options, the Northern Potters' Association and independent artists, in partnership with the council's management team.
The artists, who staged two successful exhibitions of their works in Parliament Street earlier this year, will present a cheque for £1590 to the Lord Mayor on Wednesday.
Paul Barrett, city centre manager, City of York Council, said: "The exhibitions are regarded throughout the Yorkshire area as one of the best outlets for local artists both professional and amateur. We were delighted with the e number of exhibitors this year and I hope that future events will prove as successful.
Next year's exhibitions will take place on the weekends of 24/25 April and 3/4 July. Artists and potters wanting to take part should apply through their respective society representatives. Independent artists should liase with the city centre management team on 01904 551677.
