7.08.03: Tutors' work on display

Posted on Wednesday 6 August 2003
Some of York's most talented artists will be displaying their work later this month with an exhibition of work by City of York Council's adult education tutors.

The exhibition, entitled ' Creativity in the city', celebrates the artist as a tutor, showcasing the work of 18 artists and craftsmen, all of whom extend their skills and knowledge to students on the adult education courses.

The event will be held at Bedern Hall, Bartlegarth, St Andrewgate from Saturday 9 August until Friday 15 August and will be open daily from 10.00am until 4.00pm.

Items on display will include painting and prints, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture and photography.

Mike Cooper, adult community education officer, City of York Council, said: "This is a great opportunity to see the creations of some of our adult education teachers - many of these people will have helped hundreds of local residents develop their artistic talents and it's a chance to see what the tutors own work is like."

The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Charles Hall, will open an invitation only preview evening on Friday, 8 August.
