04.03.02: Carriageway Resurfacing in Clifton Moorgate

Posted on Monday 4 March 2002
As part of an ongoing project in Clifton Moorgate City of York Council will start resurfacing a section of the carriageway on Thursday (March 7).

The work between the Bumper Castle public house and Centurion Way will last for two days. The contractor, Tarmac Northern, will be overlaying the road with a new tarmac surface.

To enable the work to be carried out in a safe manner this section of Clifton Moorgate will have to be closed from 6.30am on Thursday until 7pm on Friday (March 8). Access to The Bumper Castle public house and Melodies driving range will be maintained from the Wigginton Road end only.

The diversion route for traffic will be from Wigginton Road to the A1237 Roundabout, along to the Tesco's Roundabout and back onto Clifton Moorgate.

Ray Chaplin, head of the council's engineering consultancy, said: "This essential work will restore the carriageway to a good running surface for all road users. Work to provide a new footpath and cyclepath will continue for a further three weeks."
