01.03.02: Young Performers Give Spring Concerts

Posted on Friday 1 March 2002
Students from City of York Council's performing arts centres will display their talents at two concerts to celebrate the start of spring.

On Saturday, March 9 (7pm) at Manor School, members of the senior orchestra, the training band, guitar groups and the string orchestra will play a varied programme to include music by Bizet, Vivaldi, Britten and Bach.

Then, on Wednesday, March 13 (7pm), the exciting rhythms of the trans-global drummers will combine with the energy of the members of the voice workshops and rock bands at Millthorpe School.

Sharon Hudson, head of York performing arts centres, said, "The students have worked hard and this is an opportunity for them to enjoy performing and displaying their skills. Everyone is welcome to come along to see a wealth of music, dance and drama."

Tickets for each event cost £3/£2 and are available on the door. Anyone seeking more information should contact the council's Performing Arts Service on 01904 554660.
