Following an extraordinary meeting of City of York Council, a new leader and deputy leader have been appointed. Changes were also made to the Executive and their portfolios.

Motions were passed which; Appoint Councillor Dave Merrett as Leader of the Executive Appoint Councillor Viv Kind as Deputy Leader of the Executive Appoint Councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing as a member of the Executive.

The Executive portfolios are amended as follows; Planning and Transport is separated into Transport (Cllr Simpson-Laing) and Planning and Environment (Cllr Smallwood) Economic Development (previously part of the Leader's portfolio) is transferred to the Community Safety, Local Affairs and Commercial Services Portfolio.

The Executive is now made up of the following councillors; Leader - Dave Merrett Social Services and Deputy Leader - Viv Kind Planning and Environment - Derek Smallwood Housing - Ruth Potter Community Safety, Local Affairs, Commercial Services and Economic Development - Bob Scrase Education - Janet Looker Transport - Tracey Simpson-Laing Leisure and Heritage - Alan Jones

These changes come into effect immediately.
