A number of council meetings have been re-arranged, residents whose bins are emptied on Wednesday may be affected, as may some special schools and schools with special units.
The council will provide updates next week as more details are available and residents are being encouraged to listen to local radio - BBC Radio York and Minster FM - for information during the day as the services affected may change. Parents are also being kept informed of any disruption that affects their children. Vital services to vulnerable people will be maintained and there are plans in place to deal with any emergencies.
David Atkinson, chief executive, said: "We will be working to ensure that as many council services as possible are available for residents and we have been working with the unions to ensure that essential services are maintained for vulnerable people.
"It is, however, inevitable that some services may be unavailable and we are asking people to bear this in mind when contacting the council next Wednesday. We will be keeping people informed of the services that are affected through information to the local radio stations on the day and we would encourage people to listen to them."
The council services that will be affected are; Strensall ward committee, which has been re-arranged and will now take place on Thursday, 25th July, at the same location, Holtby Village Hall, at 7.30pm. Clifton Central and Bootham West ward committee, which has been re-arranged and will not take place on Monday 22nd July, at the same location, Burton Stone Community Centre, at 7.30pm. Refuse collection - residents whose bins are emptied on Wednesday, may not have their refuse removed and the council is trying to make alternative arrangements which will be communicated next week.
Further information will be provided next week, as more information is available.
