04.07.02: Strings Fund Day for Westfield School

Posted on Wednesday 3 July 2002
Westfield Junior School will be welcoming talented young string musicians to take part in a day of music making tomorrow (Friday, July 5).

This is the second Strings Fun Day held this year for pupils aged between nine and 11 who have been having tuition to play violin, viola, cello and double bass with City of York Council's Arts Service.

The highlight of the day will be a performance by the pupils which will be a chance to display their skills to their parents and families.

Shan Thomas, strings teacher with the Arts Service and organiser of the Strings Fun Days, said, "The day will provide an opportunity for the pupils to play their instruments together, to meet other young string players and most of all to have fun making music."
