Posted on Friday 11 January 2002
City of York Council will be resurfacing the carriageway on Foss Islands Road during the week commencing January 14, 2002, which will last for three weeks.

The contractor, Tarmac Ltd National Contracting, will be planing off the existing surface and resurfacing the whole road with a new tarmac surface. Also during the works, the existing channels will be renewed to improve drainage.

Ray Chaplin, head of engineering consultancy, said: "The carriageway resurfacing works will be carried out between 6.00pm and midnight, Monday to Saturday, to reduce the risk of potential traffic problems in light of the Copmanthorpe roadworks. However preparation works will be carried out during the day, with access to properties maintained at all times."

He continued: "All those directly affected by the works have received a letter explaining what is happening and advance notification signs will be erected at the roadside for the benefit of road users."
