Tarmac Northern Ltd will be carrying out the work commencing during the week of 7th January 2002. The work is expected to take around ten weeks to complete which includes a new footway / cycletrack from Centurion Way to Wigginton Road.
Ray Chaplin, head of engineering consultancy, said: "The opportunity is also being taken to resurface a section of Clifton Moorgate which is beginning to deteriorate. We will also provide new lighting and drainage, which has previously been lacking on this length of road."
For the majority of this time, work will be carried out under control of temporary traffic signals during working hours, normally 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. This will cause some delays and motorists are advised to use an alternative route. Access to Centurion Park and the Kettlestring Lane area is recommended via Water Lane or Tesco's roundabout.
The carriageway resurfacing will take place under temporary road closure lasting three days at a date to be determined shortly, but likely to be in March and separate notice will be given to cover this operation.
