Talented singers, dancers, musicians and technicians aged between 11 and 18 are being sought by City of York Council's performing arts service for its Summer School production of the classic rock opera Tommy.

Participants for the project will be selected by auditions to be held on Saturday, March 16 and it is hoped that students from a wide a range of York schools will be involved.

There will be two pre-Summer School Master Classes followed by four days of workshops in July with the performance at the National Centre for Early Music on Friday, July 26.

David Ashworth, music consultant for the performing arts service, said, "This will be an amazing journey for the young artists taking part and a unique opportunity for them to work at a professional level."
