Posted on Wednesday 7 August 2002
City of York Council is to re-surface parts of the Water Lane/Burdyke Avenue junction in a project starting on Tuesday (August 13) and lasting for two to three days.

Burdyke Ave will be closed at its junction with Water Lane and the speed table reprofiled to give a smoother ride. Access to Burdyke Ave will by signed via Kingsway North.

Resurfacing work will then be carried out on Water Lane at the junction with Burdyke Avenue. Diversion routes will be signed via Kingsway North and Burdyke Ave or there will be temporary traffic lights at the Water Lane Burdyke Ave junction.

The speed cushions on Water Lane will be reprofiled using Stop/go boards to control traffic.

The contractor carrying out the works will be Raynesway Construction Southern Limited. Access for emergency vehicles will be provided at all times

Ray Chaplin, head of the council's engineering consultancy, said, "We would ask people to bear with us during the works which have been programmed in the summer holidays to minimise disruption to traffic"
