The council has appointed WS Atkins Consultants Ltd and the council's Commercial Services Organisation to carry out the upgrade of an existing signalised junction on Clifton Moorgate allowing for the introduction of a toucan crossing to assist pedestrians and cyclists.
The work will involve new tactile crossing points, kerbing and surfacing works. The work will commence on Monday with a contract duration of approximately three weeks.

A pelican crossing caters for pedestrians whereas a Toucan crossing caters for pedestrians and cyclists (two-can cross). Existing examples are: Tower Street, the bottom of Clifford's Tower across into Tower Gardens and; Monks Cross, between Sainsburys and the Monks Cross Development
