The £6m extension will see the transformation of Oaklands Sports Centre into a new leisure centre with swimming facilities. We are aiming to complete the project by autumn 2009 and Oaklands will remain open throughout the building works.

New facilities include:

• Main pool, 25 metres long (6 Lanes)
• Learner pool
• Hydrotherapy pool
• Changing village
• Viewing area
• Crèche
• Gym extended to over 60 stations

Existing facilities:

• Climbing wall
• Sports hall
• Dance studio
• Information communication and technology (ICT) room
• Outdoor pitches
• Outdoor tennis courts
• Food and beverage services

Architects

Experienced architects from Wm Saunders Partnership are designing the new pool. They are experts in the field with a vast portfolio of leisure projects including the new Leeds swimming and diving centre (£14m).

Building Contractor

Clugston Construction Ltd are the contractor.
