New Swimming Pool at Oaklands update October 2008

Concrete piles and 360 degree excavators (diggers)

To the bottom right of the picture are the reinforced concrete piles. These are needed for the main foundations to sit on, as the land that we are building on is soft. The piles transfer the weight of the building down to a firmer layer of earth and are up to 30m long. In the background are 360 degree excavators (diggers) which are starting to dig out the main pool.

Blinding layer of concete for new pool at Oaklands

The main pool a few weeks later. The first layer of concrete has been laid. We call this the blinding layer; this is where we will layout the steel reinforcement that forms the base of the pool before we surround it with more concrete. To the left of the picture you can see some of the piping that makes up the filtration system.
