Aquafit

A great fun fitness class held in shallow water up to chest height. The workout will develop your heart and lung performance as well as shaping and toning your body. Aquafit is very low impact as your body mass is supported by the water making it excellent for people with joint problems. The class is suitable for anyone aged 16 or over, or 14 years if accompanied in the pool by an adult and is ideal for both swimmers and non swimmers.

Gentle Aquafit

A slightly gentler version of Aquafit, making it especially suitable for the elderly, post and pre-natal mothers and people recovering from an injury or operation. The session will develop your heart and lung performance as well as shaping and toning your body. Gentle Aquafit is very low impact as your body mass is supported by the water making it excellent for people with joint problems. The class is suitable for anyone aged 16 or over, or 14 years if accompanied in the pool by an adult and is ideal for both swimmers and non swimmers.

Deep Water Aquafit

The hardest workout of all the aquafit classes, held completely in deep water with a support belt to help you stay buoyant. The workout will develop your heart and lung performance as well as shaping and toning your body. Deep Water Aquafit is very low impact as your body mass is supported by the water making it excellent for people with joint problems. The class is suitable for anyone aged 16 or over, or 14 years if accompanied in the pool by an adult. You must be able to tread water, swim at least 10 metres and have basic water confidence.

Deep end lanes

Only the deep end of the pool is available for this session. These sessions are ideal for fitness training or practicing starts and turns. Deep end lanes is open to all ages, however, all swimmers must be able to swim comfortably out of their depth.

Inflatable Waterfun (Yearsley only)

Pirates Ahoy! A 17 metre inflatable obstacle course dominates the deep end of the pool at Yearsley pool, offering a fun challenge to all who try it. Once you are at the end you slide down the 2.5 metre high slide into the water. There are floating mats and rings to play on in the shallow end of the pool. The session is open to all ages and abilities but only competent swimmers will be able to go on the inflatable obstacle course at the deep end of the pool.

Lane swimming

These sessions allow you to have an uninterrupted swim. The pool is divided into lanes to allow you to swim at your own pace and with people of your own ability. Lane swimming will improve fitness and is suitable for all ages.

Open swim

This general swim session is ideal for all ages and abilities and is popular with families, offering them a chance to get fit and have fun in the pool. At least one lane is normally available to allow dedicated swimmers the chance to swim uninterrupted lengths of the pool.

Pool hire

Centres offer various packages including the use of fun mats, rings and other play equipment. The pools may also be hired for galas. Please contact reception for details.

Shallow End Swim

A general swim session for all ages and abilities held in the shallow end of the pool. No lanes are set out for this session.

Swimability

This warm water session (30 degrees C) is especially designed for people with disabilities and their carers in this friendly and safe environment. Pool side hoist and easy access steps available.

Waterfun

A wet and wild fun session for all ages with mats, rings and other play equipment in the pool. Waterfun is open to all ages and abilities.

Women's swim

This session is targeted at women aged 16 or over, or 14 years if accompanied in the pool by an adult.

Young at Heart

A swimming session targeted at over 50s, encouraging more swimmers to keep fit and socialise at the pools away from splashing youngsters. For more dedicated swimmers one lane will be available for an uninterrupted swim.
