YORKCards

Adult YORKcard

The YORKCard is the joint leisure and library membership card for York residents.

If you live within the City of York Council area you're entitled to this card free of charge.

Getting a card

Your YORKCard will be issued to you when you join any City of York Library. Joining the library is very easy, please follow this link to find out how.

Using your card

Your card gives you discounted or free entry to a range of leisure facilities in York, including:

  • Edmund Wilson swimming pool
  • Oaklands Sports Centre
  • Yearsley Swimming Pool
  • York Art Gallery
  • York Castle Museum
  • Yorkshire Museum

The council is not responsible for the content or reliability of external websites.

Entry to the Castle Museum and Yorkshire Museum is free, but there may be charges for certain exhibitions.

Is it a family card?

No, everybody in your household needs one, including children aged five and over.

Conditions

There are a few simple rules to ensure that the scheme isn’t abused. Please read them before using your YORKCard.

  • A YORKCard may only be used by the person to whom it is issued. It must be signed on the back.
  • You must show your YORKCard to obtain the discounted rates – one discount per card presented.
  • YORKCard discounts are normally given for facilities and events on parks or on the strays.
  • Further concessions may be available if you are a senior citizen, under 16, in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance, Working Tax Credit, Disability Living Allowance, on Income Support, or have a disability.
  • Tickets, entry and use of facilities are subject to availability.
  • Charges are subject to change without notice.
  • You may be asked for additional proof of identity.
  • YORKCards are only available to residents of the City of York Council area.
  • There will be a charge of £2 for replacing lost or damaged cards.
