There are council managed bowling greens at Glen Gardens and Rowntree Park. Privately managed greens are also located at West Bank Park, Clarence Gardens and Scarcroft Green.
City of York Council parks open at 8am Monday to Friday and 9am Saturdays and Sundays, closing at dusk.
Bowling takes place from 2pm Monday to Fridays and from 10am on Saturdays and Sundays. The later start during the week is to allow maintenance to take place. The season runs from late April to late September.
If you are a bowls club who would like to block book bowling greens, you need to apply in writing to: Business Support, Communities and Culture, 18 Back Swinegate, York, YO1 8ZD.
Season tickets apply from May to September and allow unlimited use of the bowling greens. Players do not have to pay again once they have purchased a season ticket. If you would like a season ticket for use at council managed greens please contact us on 01904 553409.

Payment is made directly to the park keeper unless you are a club who has made a block booking. In this case your club will be sent an invoice.
