There are council managed bowling greens at Glen Gardens, Hull Road Park and Rowntree Park. Privately managed greens are also located at West Bank Park and Clarence Gardens.
City of York Council parks open at 8.00am and close at dusk.
Bowling takes place from 2.00 pm Monday to Fridays and from 10.00 am on Saturdays and Sundays. The later start during the week is to allow maintenance to take place. The season runs from late April to late September.
If you are a bowls club who would like to block book bowling greens, you need to apply in writing to: Business Support, Lifelong Learning and Culture, 18 Back Swinegate, York, YO1 8ZD.
Season tickets apply from May to September and allow unlimited use of the bowling greens. Players do not have to pay again once they have purchased a season ticket.
Payment is made directly to the park keeper unless you are a club who has made a block booking. In this case your club will be sent an invoice.
