Oaklands are proud to be the first centre in the country to have been awarded the Inclusive Fitness Mark (IFI Mark).
This means Oaklands has accessible facilities, inclusive fitness equipment, inclusive marketing strategies to raise awareness, and staff are disability equality trained.
IFI Mark facilities offer truly inclusive environments and increased participation by disabled people in a variety of sports and activities.
A weekly inclusive fitness session takes place every Tuesday at 11.00am. There is no need to book in advance and our dedicated staff are always on hand to help.
Oaklands gym also offers an Exercise Referral Scheme through a joint initiative with North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust. The Exercise Referral Scheme allows your GP or Practise Nurse to refer you for a programme of physical activity. This programme enables you to receive expert help from our staff, who will give you a specially designed fitness programme and will help you progress at your own pace.
The aim of the scheme is to help you to experience the many benefits that physical activity can have on your health. You do not have to already be physically active to participate in this scheme, it is designed to help people who are new to physical activity or a little out of practise.
For further information please contact your GP or Practice Nurse.
