Climbing Walls - user information

Want to climb?

Competent adults

If you are a competent adult climber (18yrs+) please register at Oaklands reception on your first visit. You will be issued with a membership card which should be presented each time you come to climb.

Competent 14 to 17 year olds

Juniors aged 14-17yrs who have successfully completed a competency test and had a parental consent form signed may use the wall unsupervised at any time.

Beginners and under 18s

Novice climbers and under 18s either need to be signed in as the guest of a competent adult climber (maximum 2 guests per competent adult, minimum age 5 years), or under a course of instruction.

If you would like to book onto one of our courses, please see the climbing courses and clubs page, or contact us for more information.

Other activities

Want a free climb? We are always looking for experienced climbers to get involved in route setting. This not only helps us keep the climbing routes new and varied, but in return we can give you free climbing passes!

The facility can also be booked for our popular birthday parties, club nights, or team building sessions. For further information please contact our Community Climbing Instructor by emailing oaklands@york.gov.uk
