Climbing wall

Oaklands climbing centre logo

Oaklands Climbing Centre opened in September 2006 and is the largest climbing wall in York. It has two main walls, 10m and 13m high, plus a 4m high bouldering wall.

Beginners and novices, aged five or over, and experienced climbers are welcome to use the wall. See the Climbing walls page for more information.

Learn basic climbing skills or expand your technique on one of our courses for beginners and improvers.

With bolt-on holds from Rockworks and Enter-Prise and changeable volumes, the routes are re-set on a regular basis. There are 50 routes on 17 varied lines so everyone can enjoy a wide range of grades (F4 to F8a on the main walls and V0 to V9 on the bouldering wall).
