What does the future hold for the walls?

The walls are owned and looked after by City of York Council for the benefit of residents, visitors and future generations.

We will continue to develop and implement responsible, imaginative and forward-thinking policies for the walls. The council will ensure that the walls are maintained and conserved in a way that guarantees their long-term survival and protects their archaeological and historical value.

Where resources allow, access and interpretation facilities will be improved so that more people can enjoy being on the walls.
