During the refurbishment of York Library, we are merging the City Archives and the Local History library into a single service. They are currently offering a reduced service based at the City Archives until Spring 2010.

From 1 March 2010 the city centre Archives and Local History service will be CLOSED to personal callers. All existing research bookings will be honoured, but no more can be accepted until further notice. We regret the need for this closure, but this is due to staff shortages and the need to prepare for our move to York Explore. By closing to personal callers we will be able to maintain our telephone, email and postal enquiry service during this period.
