Renewing items

You may borrow books, spoken word tapes and CDs for up to 3 weeks. DVDs and music CDs are lent for a week at a time.

Providing no one else has requested an item you may extend this period by renewing the item.

Ways to renew items

  • in person at any library
  • telephone any library
  • email any library, giving your library card number and the title of the items you wish to renew
  • log on to the online library catalogue*
  • phone the 24/7 automated telephone renewal line - 01904 552833 *

* You will need your library card number and PIN to use these services

What happens if I don't renew an item?

If you do not return an item by the date it is due back to us, and you do not renew it, there will be a charge.  This is based on how many items you have and how many days they are late.  See the library charges page for more information.

What if someone else wants an item I have borrowed?

We will reserve the item for them so that when it is returned to the library we will let them know.  This means that you will not be able to renew that item beyond the original loan period.
