Where can I borrow and return items?

You can borrow items from any City of York Library, and return them to any City of York Library.  You do not have to return items to the library you borrowed them from.

How many items?

You can borrow up to 20 items at a time.

How long do I get?

Books and audiobooks are issued for three weeks, and DVDs and CDs for one week.

How much does it cost?

It is free to borrow books and audiobooks.  There are charges for borrowing DVDs and CDs.  You can pay less by taking out an Audio Visual subscription for £18 per year.  Borrowers in the 12 - 17 age range automatically get a subscription as part of your membership.  See the 'Fees and Charges' page for more details.

What happens if I return my items late?

We make a small charge for items returned late (unless you are under 12 years of age).  But don't worry, you can renew your items if you are not going to be able to return them in time.  See the 'Renewing Items' page for more information.
